EDGAR ALLAN POE'S SPIRITS OF THE DEAD
Adaptation and Art by Richard Corben
Colors by Richard Corben and Beth Corben Reed
Letters by Nate Piekos of Blambot

The stories of Edgar Allan Poe as interpreted by Richard Corben are a joy to read! The hermaphroditic Mags is our horror host leading us through Poe's works. A callous sea captain is held accountable for the cargo he dumped overboard in "The City in the Sea."

In "Berenice" a simpleton gets into a marriage of convenience with a woman whose teeth he becomes obsessed with, even after her death. More obsession with a dose of incest is thrown in to a beautiful interpretation of "The Fall of the House of Usher." There's "The Raven," which I've always said isn't that scary, but is a good depiction of grief and sorrow.

Corben knows Poe. It's a match only rivaled by his knowledge of Lovecraft and this book is so good I'd recommend it for teens in high school having to learn about Poe's works. Corben's artwork perfectly captures horror, disgust, obsession, decay, lust, and fear. You need this in your life if you are a Poe or Corben fan. The artwork speaks volumes for this masterpiece. Highly recommended.
