Question about the Western series, Lawman, starring John Russell as Marshall Dan Troop, specifically the episode "The Joker."
In that episode, didn't it strike you as ambiguous about the true identity of the killer Barney Tremaine. He has totally convinced the Deputy, Johnny McKay, that he is Johnny's Father. That it was actually Johnny's Foster Father who was killed, and that the Foster-Father was killed by Tremaine.
But all that is open to interpretation because the Marshall wants Tremaine to retract that claim before Tremaine goes to the gallows.
To add even further to the ambiguity, at the ending the Marshall stops Johnny from killing Tremaine, and then the Marshall kills Tremaine.
Was Tremaine really what he claimed he was--that he was Johnny's biological-father?
