Seen via its prime time CBS premiere, WUSA Channel 9, in Washington, DC.
I had to look this one up, as it's odd for me to not remember much from stuff I saw starting in high school. After reading about it, I now recall just why I forgot. This is hardly an adaptation of Gaston Leroux's classic story, even relocating the setting from Paris to Budapest. The cast is headlined by Maximillian Schell, the lovely Jane Seymour, and Michael York. Try as they might, they don't rescue this ill-conceived television movie.
