Ainbo (2021) aka Ainbo Spirit of the Amazon
Some plot elements from The Emerald Forest; a few visuals from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (and maybe Princess Mononoke), and some from The Lion King, but the movie's attempt to address real-world environmental issues like deforestation is undercut by the use of magical fantasy elements that sidestep the complex socio-political and economic realities driving the destruction of the Amazon rainforest. Instead of providing a grounded commentary on the crisis, Ainbo offers an escapist narrative that, while visually appealing, doesn't grapple with the root causes of deforestation.
Character design and animation are nice, but the mountainous/volcanic landscape and architecture depicted bear no resemblance to any reality.
Voices of Lola Raie, Rene Mujica, and Naomi Serrano.
