Latest in the occasional Legend of Detective Dee series. This one sees Empress Wu using refraction of sunlight to make the roof of the Vientiane Temple seemingly come alive and fly away - thus proving she has the backing of the Gods. It's all a show but, uh oh, one of the Gods takes umbrage and descends from a mirage of the Heavenly Palace with great stamping feet which makes the Empress look small.
Naturally, Empress Wu turns to Judge Dee to find out what's going on.
Li Zhen Ran appears in her third Judge Dee film in this series - though she will be remembered by many for her role in Imperial Concubine (2017) in which two men from the present are transported through time to Korea's Joseon Period. They dress as women to buy time to find a way back to the present. Full movie available on Youtube and elsewhere.
