Wow - this one looks a blast - and it seems everyone agrees:
"It's just so hot"
"140 minutes feels too short"
"The energy of the cast is so great you can feel it coming off the screen"
"The one-on-one fight between Ohki and Houken is impossible to take your eyes off"
"This film makes you feel the potential power of Japanese movies"
"A gargantuan, soul-rousing wonder—a work of operatic grandeur where swords aren't merely crossed but forged into immortal art."
Based on the manga series 'Kingdom' by Yasuhisa Hara
Qin is invaded by Cho warriors from the north and battle begins
The three earlier movies in the series have attracted a massive cult following across Asia - that's Kingdom 1-3. Broadly speaking, the manga and movies tell the story of the short-lived Qin dynasty (221-206BC) from which China still gets its name (Qin is pronounced Chin for those unfamiliar). This brought an end to the warring states period and unified the nation for the first time.
Yuko Araki, who features here in Kingdom 4, played Cinderella in last year's wonderful Once Upon A Crime which I heartily recommend:
