'80s, '90s Horror & Sci-Fi • CONRAD BROOKS VS. THE WEREWOLF (1994)

Just watched the new Saturn's Core release of this SOV horror film directed by the eccentric David "The Rock" Nelson.  I was unfamiliar with Mr. Nelson prior to this release but was aware of this title because how could I not be.  It mainly consists of Conrad and his brother chasing down a werewolf in a cemetery (in broad daylight) with plastic Uzis and baseball bats.  This movie is unsurprisingly pretty terrible, but I couldn't help but to laugh along with the movie.  It has that DIY Don Glut energy of pure Monsterkid joy which I found infectious, but instead of being made by teenagers, it's by old men running around in a graveyard with a cheap werewolf costume.  But the movie itself has it's tongue planted firmly in it's cheek.  It's clear that they spent a day or two having a blast making a silly monster movie capitalizing off of Brooks' namesake.  And boy, Brooks makes damn sure you knew he was in Plan 9 in this film.  I still haven't checked out the deleted scenes also on this disc, but I can't imagine what DIDN'T make it into this.
