I got wind of the fact that there is a German Blu-ray of THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE, and I assumed that it would be identical to the Scream Factory US Blu-ray. My German is lousy, but I could see by the online packaging specs that it also had an "alternate" scene in the supplemental section. That was true for both of the Scream releases, the DVD and then the Blu-ray.
I had no real reason to believe that the placement of the "alternate" scene was any different from Scream's discs. However, being willing to take one for the team, I just played a hunch. I played my luck. Sometimes a hunch pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I was just lucky--I just played a hunch.
Lo and behold, the Continental scene with the topless Adele Lamont appears in the main body of the German Blu-ray! So, I then checked the supplemental section, and the "alternate" scene there is the clothed variation.
Even better, the full audio is present during the Continental scene. On the two Scream discs, the alternate Continental scene was silent, without dialog or music. But in this German Blu-ray, the scene is intact with its dialog and sleazy music. It can be played with either English or German audio.
So, a happy surprise for me. I always wanted a full-length Blu-ray of TBTWD, including the Continental variation of the scene with Adele Lamont, and now i have it. I'm glad that I played that hunch.
