Excellent Czech comedy-fantasy about a king who cares nothing for his subjects and wastes his time depending on quack alchemists and wizards to keep his mind off his deteriorating health . A group of his advisors want him out and devise schemes to trick him into abdicating or worse murder him. Meanwhile the emperor wants to find the Golem of myth to help him expand his empire.  When it finally found in a cave his advisors figure out how to animate the clay monster but lose the small round ball as a dog runs off with out. Meanwhile the King's baker is thrown in prison for handing out all the bread rolls to the poor but escapes only to wind up in the Emperor's bathtub to clean off where the servants mistake him for a the king who has taken a youth serum from his alchemist. The serum didn't work but he sees the younger baker who looks like he did 30 years ago in a broken mirror ala the Marx Brothers as the baker imitates the emperor. The emperor leaves for a vacation while the baker takes over as king and overturns all the laws that keep the people hungry and poor, while spoiling the plot of the advisors.  The Golem is finally brought back to life only to help the baker with his loaves of bread providing heat for the ovens. A few songs round the movie made in 2 parts. The first part focuses more on the emperor, the second part, the baker.  Well done fantasy. 3.5/5
