Wende time comes

Those of us who have watched episodes of THE GREEN HORNET way too many times (raises hand sheepishly) have become fond of Wende Wagner, who played Britt Reid's secetary Casey. As in the radio series, Lenore Case was one of the few who knew the dangerous game her boss was playing. THE GREEN HORNET would have benefitted greatly by being an hour-long show. the Hornet's standard procedure involved forcing his way into criminal enterprises, posing as a racketeer himself, and then exposing them or getting the crooks to wipe each other out. There never seemed time for this in the half-hour episodes, and an essential appeal of the series was downplayed. We also never got stories spotlighting Casey or Scanlon (Mike Axeford fared a little better). So we usually got a scene of Wende looking concerned or teasing Mike, and that was it.
However, Wende did appear in a few other films and TV shows (she didn't have the most prolific career), one of which is this stinker...
OUT OF SIGHT (1966)

Just Plain Awful. My God, this is bad. It's a cheap spoof of both AIP's Beach Party movies (which were not exactly timeless classics themselves) and GET SMART, but it seems to have been made by people with no idea what made those sources funny. Jonathan Daly (very much like a less talented Jerry Lewis, if your imagination can go that far) stars as Homer, the valet to an injured and out-of-action spy who gets caught up in (allegedly) whacky shenanigans. The lightweight pop groups shown playing to bikini dancers are the likes of Gary Lewis and the Playboys, the Turtles, Freddie and the Dreamers, and the Knickerbockers. Phew. This movie was meant for drive-ins, where you were either opening another beer or trying to get your date's bra off. The one highlight (for me anyway) was that three gorgeous assassins are sent to eliminate Homer. (I know everyone wants to hit a Homer, but really..) One of them is called Scuba, played by Wende Wagner in a bikini and a wicked grin. She doesn't do any better than her colleagues but at least she roused me out of that bad movie stupor where you keep checking your watch.
