"In the Edo period (1603-1868), at the remote village of Okitsu, the evil cult leader Koushirou uses ninjutsu to ensorcel sharks and forces them to attack local pearl divers so the cult can steal the pearls from their mangled corpses. Desperate for help, the village chief hires Kotaro Shiozaki, a guard at a nearby temple, but Kotaro soon finds his path blocked by lady ninja Kikuma, and a gigantic shark that doesn't seem like something from this world."
Not the greatest shark movie ever made but good fun nonetheless. The director took the unusual decision to present part of the trailer in a scratchy '50s format - it's unclear why he did this - maybe he was bored one afternoon or more likely, I guess, he wanted to conjure up the idea that the movie seeks to recapture the action-packed shonen manga comics of the 1950s.
