Tentacled alien invaders have always had their followers - even since Cthulhu, I guess - but rarely have they been as explosive as they were in Alienoid (2022), a South Korean movie that blew away the opposition two years ago.
Now, the final part of the saga is on release, called with great imagination Alienoid 2. In fairness, the two parts were filmed together so the title is not such a surprise. The movie looks great, just great, I will be first in the queue when it reaches Europe. You don't need to see the first movie to understand the second, but why miss out?
The films have a slew of up-and-coming eye candy from the peninsula, including Lee Hanae who was in last year's excellent spy movie Phantom, about as hard-nosed as you can get - and Kim Tae-Ri who achieved international fame in the unsettling The Handmaiden (2016). Not many of these young stars will make it to the end.
