"Tarzan at the Earth's Core," in which Tarzan is carried off by a pterodactyl, had just finished its original publication in a magazine serial shortly before Beulah Marie Dix wrote a similar scene w/ the heroine snatched away for RKO's unfilmed "Creation." This, of course, was adapted for King Kong, and from there became a stock cinematic prehistoric peril seen in One Million B.C. (1967), The Valley of Gwangi, When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, and, coming back to Burroughs, the movie version of The Land that Time Forgot. Burroughs' The Land That Time Forgot novel itself has enough parallels with Creation's story to make one wonder how familiar the team on that movie was with his writing.
