Shock Talk • Cinematography question

I'm watching one of those "filming locations 50 years later" videos. I've noticed something odd on several of them.

Whatever video camera or Iphone they're using to film these things, they often try to duplicate the exact framing from a movie scene. Then they show then/now shots back to back. You've seen 'em.

In the case of The Exorcist, the exact same framed 'now' shots, identified by clear landmarks, looks much less...expansive than in the original. That's the only word I can think of to describe it. It's not a depth of field or focus thing, I don't think. It's something else I can't quite describe.

Whatever it is, it has to do with the lensing that was used, I assume?
