This might be a bit of “nerd stuff” for Lugosi Fans, but this topic bothered me when I red it. I did some research about it since then, but I really did not found much, so I wanted to ask some other fans what they think about that:
So, around 1928/29, Carroll Borland, who later played the female vampire in „Mark of the Vampire“ and who also had a huge crush on him and was a „fan girl“ you could say, reached out to Lugosi, who played Dracula on the stage at this time, for her book she was writing. The main point is, when Lugosi returned to her city with the play in 1929, they met up and talked about her Dracula-Book: In her Biography, it is written that one evening, she and Lugosi sat outside and he „leaned forward and kissed“ her. She also said that it was just this one time they kissed, he never took advance of her and their relationship was always platonic, also when they made „Mark of the Vampire“ a few years later. Now the problem is: at that time, when they kissed, if it is true what she said, she was 15 and he was around 47… I am a huge Lugosi Fan, and when I red this part in a biography about him and then in the biography about Carrol Borland-This topic was almost never mentioned nor was it seen as… problematic and I was a bit surprised that it never got any attention. It even was just mentioned as it was no big deal. Now, am I the only one who thinks this is weird or was it considered as not so problematic back then? Did anyone else ever red about that? What do you thing about this whole thing?
