After many years of being told Iaserprinters were the best possible copier machines, I purchased and set up a Brother printer last year. I've been very happy with the quality and since I only print maybe 20-30 copies a week, the original cartridge has lasted me all that time.
Three weeks ago, I did finally get the flashing light that indicates the cartridge is getting low. I bought a replacement, but the old cartridge is still turning out quality copies so far.
In the joint experiences of laserprinter owners here, what happens when the old toner cartridge finally reaches point of no return? Will copies just get overly light, as happened with my old inkjet cartridges? And is there any way that one's going down to the last little bit of toner might compromise the mechanism? I did see a YOUTUBE video about what to do if the machine has a new cartridge but doesn't register it correctly. The video didn't say such mechanical recalcitrance could be caused by anything in particular, but I wondered about ill effects anyway.
