In this slasher directed by José Ramón Larraz, a computer enthusiast named Gerald moves to the town of Paddock County and, after becoming romantically involved with local rich girl Lillian, begins investigating a series of brutal murders committed by a killer wearing a creepy disguise and wielding an axe.

I went into this one completely blind (I bought the disc because it was on sale) and expected the worst. However, I went away pleasantly surprised at this effective little slasher. It looks great, is quite atmospheric, and the acting is surprisingly decent. The kills aren't particularly gory, but are shot extremely well and sometimes quite nasty.
It's a fun time, but suffers in two areas. First, nearly every character, including the two main characters, is highly unlikeable. Second, there's a twist at the end that basically makes no sense whatsoever (but is so dumb that it's funny).

I watched the Arrow Video Blu-ray release of this movie, and it's a great disc. The picture quality is stunning with lots of detail and color. There are plenty of special features, including interviews and multiple commentary tracks, and you can also select either the English or Spanish version of the movie (I think the only difference is the audio though). It's also got separate subtitles for each version of the film, which is much appreciated!
