Making its debut at the Lund Fantasy Film Festival in Sweden and the London International Fantastic Film Festival this week is this Japanese movie (glub glub)?
After a 50,000-year-old human fossil is discovered deep in the Japanese mountains, a series of bizarre and strange murders spreads across the country. Mysteriously, a goldfish bowl and a crushed goldfish were found at each crime scene. Erika, an investigator from the Public Security Service's special unit, takes on the case and believes the murders are the result of a psychic using goldfish as weapons. Soon, Erika is drawn into a grand revenge plan stemming from the genes of the ancient fossils.
There are some great lines: "Pardon me, ma'am but did the goldfish have a grudge against your husband?"
Another Japanese film on show at the London festival was The Gesuidouz (2024) in which a Japanese death metal band seeks a quiet place in the country to create the ultimate album - "Zombies! Zombies! Zombies!":
This is actually quite funny - and there's a musical release to go with it.
