The Weird, Weird West • Vincent Price's DEVIL BAT ape on RIVERBOAT

Stumbled across Vincent Price's 1959 guest shot "Witness no Evil" on the short-lived western series RIVERBOAT starring Burt Reynolds and Darren McGavin. I'd think there are some CHFBers who'd be interested.

Price plays a ne'er-do-well (surprise!) animal trapper who brings his latest cargo aboard the riverboat.  He's got a vial of special eau de monkey he applies to his targets, and at night his ape (Janos Prohaska) breaks out of the hold to rob them.  In addition to the Murders in the Rue Morgue and DEVIL BAT influences, he's also reunited with Charles Herbert from THE FLY, co-starring as a kid who gets endangered and crosswise in the plot. Barbara Lawrence from KRONOS plays the boy's single  mom.  Some good foggy ape stalking scenes with Herbert, even if nobody gets killed.  McGavin must have had some vacation time for this episode as he only shows up at the end. Reynolds carries the series regular load.

It's on YouTube but not sure of the licensing, so won't post a direct link.  If you're feeling guilty though I've got your karma covered, I liked the show enough that I ordered the legit DVD release of the series. Fun stuff!
