Though not strictly a horror film, this movie is filled with existential dread, filmed in an expressionist style - made an impact at Cannes and sure to attract horror fans. It's hard work though as the film is based on a real-life scenario from the turn of the century.
Destitute, Karoline takes a job in post-WW1 Copenhagen as a nurse at an illegal adoption agency where unwanted babies are remaindered by their often equally destitute mothers. Some of the babies are sold to wealthy childless couples but for the rest, a grim fate awaits.........
