After the adrenalin-fuelled Broadway (2022) about a gang of street thieves and their battles with just about everyone, young prodigy Christos Massalas brings us his second feature, Killerwood, presented this week at the Thessalonica Film Festival.
A neurotic director (much like Massalas - or certainly the young Tarantino) is trying to make the first serial killer movie from Greece. The actors are sceptical ("You want me to stab him how many times? Ten?" Worse still, there is a real serial killer on the set. With references to innumerable genre tropes and comic moments amidst the gore, this looks like it could become another cult movie:
Lovely Elsa Lekakou also took the lead in Broadway and if you've never seen that, let me say it's worth the effort.
