This apparently was a pilot for a TV series. Didn't sell but it did go on the air as the last episode of Flight, an anthology series focused on the air force. This was likely the only science fiction episode. It is an MGM production and a lot of the YouTube comments believe much of what is here, sets, etc. was borrowed from Forbidden Planet.
