Sci-fi comedy series from the guys who wrote ARE YOU BEING SERVED? (Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft) starring AYBS's Mollie Sugden (Mrs. Slocombe of the ever-changing hair color) as housewife Gertrude Noah accidentally blasted into space along with a handful of other assorted characters. Widely considered a failure after its single 6-episode season in 1978, a recent watch on YouTube (it's also on DVD) had me laughing quite a bit at its take on sci-fi tropes and especially tech. From the AYBS guys and a fearless comic actor like Sugden you can expect double-entendres, silliness, and slapstick, and that's what you get. If the pilot doesn't grab you, go no further. But for sci-fi freaks (or fans of obscure Britcoms) there's fun to be had and the 6 episodes constitute something of a story arc (but maybe watch them in groups of two rather than the hours-long binge I did).

Though there's some surprisingly nice model work here and there, the ship before blast-off:
1970s low-tech sci-fi is present and, again, is part of the charm:
