Hah! You thought Squid Game was the wildest game ever!

In Acma Game, the holder of the 99 Devil's Keys can have whatever they want in the universe - complete dominion or destroy the world if that's your desire. You gain keys by defeating your opponents in increasingly dangerous (and weird) games. This began as a manga in the estimable Shonen Weekly from 2013-17 and then emerged as a live action ten-episode TV series in 2024. In a clever marketing ploy, an additional final episode is released as a movie.

In a nutshell, the plot is this: Oda Teruasa, a gifted high school senior who is the heir of Japan's wealthy trading company Oda Group, lost everything 13 years ago when Seiji, his father, was murdered by a mysterious organization. The culprit was, in fact, after a weathered key which was in Seiji's possession. Whoever acquires this key will allegedly see their fortune rise with the number of keys they collect, and with 99 keys, one can gain control over everything in this world. Entrusted with this key by his father just before the fatal incident, Teruasa managed to escape overseas, and since then, he has travelled the world, accumulating knowledge and experience. Returning to Japan after 13 years to avenge his father, Teruasa finds himself entangled in the Games, a life-threatening battle of wits against rivals aiming to win the demonic keys.

Can Teruasa gain the final key and save the Universe?

Pig-tailed bespectacled Kotone Furokawa (I bet she loves her agent) was also in last year's TV series Yu Yu Hakusho in which she played Botan the ferrywoman of the dead across the River Styx - a series in which a spirit detective is sent from the underworld to correct wrongs amongst the living:
