Shockingly, while we have a bazillion threads dedicated to classic Dark Shadows, we didn't have one dedicated to the 1991 revival series (that I could find at least).

I've started a rewatch once a week, and thus far I'm liking it! I missed it in the original run, as the start of the series coincided with the beginnings of the first Gulf War, and my military-serving brother called and talked to us all over most of the first episode concerning his near instantaneous deployment to the region. It was just the wrong time for me!

I think Ben Cross does a good job portraying Barnabas' schizophrenia between humanity and monstrosity. Joanna Going, Barbara Steele, Rebecca Staab, Jean Simmons, and Ely Pouget are all AMAZING ladies. Roy Thinnes is a capable Roger, and Jim Fyfe is nuts from the beginning. The filming technique is literally all the same moves that Curtis used in the Night Stalker and Dark Shadows films, with a feral camera stalking the land. I'm watching it on the much disliked DVD's that didn't do the correct day-for-night editing, but once I came up with a story reason for it - that it is being portrayed in vampire-vision, how the world looks at night to the creatures that live in darkness, I got to liking even that. Can't wait to get into more of this!
