When thinking of Khmer, horror movies don't immediately spring to mind - so the release last year of The Ritual: Black Nun came as a pleasant surprise - a folkloric horror with some real jump-out-of-your-seat moments and a plot that makes sense. The first half apparently is slow and could have been more tightly edited (you've got time to go make a cup of tea and butter a scone without missing much) but the second half they say is eyeballs glued to the screen. Catch it if you can:
"The Ritual: Black Nun features a series of mysterious occurrences that force a family into confronting their own superstitions and exploring the spiritual beliefs of other religions. They must work together to try to explain the seemingly unexplainable." - official blurb
