Eons of your years ago, I was part of the making of this no-budget independent film in the form of an old black and white serial, that ended up being one very long chapter that is essentially the movie. It was made by a bunch of young scalawags over a period of a couple of years (’76, ’77, I believe), in and around Boston and Uxbridge, MA. Three of us in particular wore a bunch of hats. Robert Gifford co-wrote, directed, produced, edited and played a role. Cortney Skinner created props, played the major comic sidekick role, did stunts, built and blew up a miniature bridge and created the villain’s diabolical deathtrap machine seen in the poster. I co-wrote the film, storyboarded, choreographed fight scenes, played a supporting role, did stunts and created props and paintings.
Now, finally, many years later, Bob Gifford has completed work on CAPTAIN DYMO VS. THE COWMASTER and it’s having its world premiere at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge, MA on October 19th at 3 PM. This thing was a lot of fun to make, but looking at it now, I’m surprised at the amount of work that went into it. I’ll post some pics and a link to the trailer.
