Reading this article on Maggie Bradbury, and how her support allowed Ray the space in his life to become the literary force we all know, it occurred to me that most of us here have either spouses, significant others, family, or friends who really helped you along the darkened, lonely by-paths to your individual fandoms. Maybe in as big a way as Maggie, or as lightly as getting you into stuff you didn't know existed... are there any of those people in your lives who you wish to praise?
My folks like spooky, sci-fi and fantasy stuff without being readers of it. TV and movies absolutely, but in literature my Dad was more westerns and thrillers, and my Mom was a maniacal murder mystery maven. But in movies and TV we were united in watching the cool stuff, which is how I got exposed to the classics (and glorious trash) at an early age and never looked back.
