Seen during its network television premiere on The ABC Friday Night Movie – WJLA Channel 7, Washington, DC.
At the Earth’s Core is the earliest AIP film I can remember seeing being advertised on tv when it was coming to theaters. Definitely a great story on paper. It looks like it was made primarily for children’s matinees, judging from the monster suits and sets. Very whimsical, but it makes me think Sigmund and the Sea Monsters gone rogue from too much weed, minus Johnny Whittaker. Peter Cushing is one of my favorite actors. I can’t see Doug McClure without thinking “Troy McClure” from The Simpsons,
Oh... and some lady named Caroline is also featured.
