I’m formally announcing to the board my new film — not quite genre - but with many genre connections: THE GREAT NICK D, a comedy with Kathryn Leigh Scott, David Selby, O-Lan Jones, Lisa Richards, Lara Parker (in her final role), and uber-monster kid / director Sam Irvin all featuring in the cast. Jerry Lacy makes a cameo as well. It was shot by cinematographer Robert Murphy (who shot Sundance darling IN SEARCH OF A MIDNIGHT KISS) with music by Geoffrey Burch (who scored Canadian indie GUITAR LESSONS)
THE GREAT NICK D is a sweet-natured tale of redemption following a washed up 90's porn star “Nick D” now a Venice Beach nobody, who gets a second chance to restart his mainstream acting career in order to win back the Oscar nominated actress girlfriend from his past.
It’s a project Nathan Wilson and I have been discussing for at least a decade, and last year before the strikes began we pooled our resources together, maxed out a credit card, and finally produced the film.
We’re aiming to have it debut at a few festivals this year before a Blu-ray/DVD release in the later quarter of the year. It’s a fun, wild movie, there’s even a musical number, and the Phantom of the Opera kind of makes an appearance too haha.
We’re super excited to share the film with you all, and I’ll continue to post updates as we go along!
