Better late than never, this fun Brazilian movie is now on release in Europe where some territories have renamed it Casper and the Pirates
This has nothing to do with the American ghost but it does involve a young ghost, Pluft, who lives on an island where the ghosts believe humans are fairy-tale monsters. Pluft's world is turned upside down when an evil pirate disembarks on the island after kidnapping a little girl Maribel. The pirate is seeking the lost treasure of Maribel's father. Pluft, the little girl and three sympathetic crewmen combine forces to combat the evil pirate.
The film was a big earner in Brazil and was re-edited the following year for a TV series. It scores 8.3 on IMDB so take the kids along and enjoy:
Pluft's mother, Fabiula Nascimento was in the creepy The Nightshifter / Morto Não Fala (2018) about a mortuary attendant able to talk to the dead.
