Years ago, no idea where but possibly a fan mag, I saw an article from not very long before ST:TMP came out. It said that, for lack of work, Shatner for a time had been near broke and living in his car. Since then I've seen evidence to the huge volume of mostly TV work he kept busy with all through the 70s, so I seriously doubt the article was truthful. I believe it photo'd him leaning on a car while wearing the typical denim leisure suit, if that helps.
