Kept awake at night by thoughts of what might be hiding in your wardrobe, under your bed, or waiting patiently outside the closed door of the bedroom? Is there something under the skin that makes you want to itch? I know that feeling.
If you do suffer from sleep disorders, you should give Lee Sun-kyung's final movie Sleep a miss. Obviously, you can't watch this movie without your thoughts being clouded by the Parasite actor's suicide this week aged only forty-eight, such a tragedy, but this top-notch supernatural thriller does at least stand up as a form of tribute to his skill and profession.
"A young, expectant wife must figure out how to stop her husband's nightmarish sleepwalking habits before he harms himself or his family," says the blurb - but trust me, the film that premiered at Cannes this year is much more than that - a simple case of sleepwalking slowly descends from a rational reaction to stress at work into an invasion of the mind by supernatural forces and the manifestation of evil. The ending will make your eyes pop.
