Not horror-specific, but has some connections, and some people here may be interested. I am currently putting the finishing touches to my latest book, a look at the rock group KISS, from the angle of their work on film, television, and home video. Coming later this year from Bear Manor. Cover art by Peter Savieri.

"From the real thing to the rip-offs, and everything in-between, CREATURES OF THE SCREEN examines the fifty-year history of the rock group KISS on film, television, and home video, as well as the movies and TV shows which were informed and inspired by – and exploited – the band’s striking visual imagery, popularity, and pop culture impact."

One of the guest contributions comes from none other than LSOH's Dick Klemensen, who recalls the time in 1977 when KISS passed through his town and Gene Simmons, himself a horror fan and former fanzine publisher, looked him up and then arrived at his house in a stretch limo, with a burly bodyguard by his side and the following month's Playboy Playmate (Star Stowe) on his arm, and spent some time chatting about horror movies and rifling through Dick's collection, leaving with a couple of his Karloff books under his arm (which Gene insisted on paying for, even though Dick offered them to him for free). The following evening, Dick then spotted Gene and the rest of the band, sans makeup, when he took in a screening of WIZARDS at the local cinema!
