Murder and Mystery • "Daughter of Shanghai" (1937)

"Sharks won't be particular."  Good line in otherwise unremarkable meller.  Anna May Wong and director Robert Florey do okay work.  The title may have been meant to capitalize on Wong's early-30s pics, "Shanghai Express" and "Daughter of the Dragon."  She had a most memorable role in the former.  Topical (for now, even):  a San Francisco Herald (fictitious newspaper?) headline:  "Foreign Horde Floods U.S."  Place name: Port O' Juan, off the coast of South America.  Boat name: the Jenny Hawks.  Early reference to Social Security in the dialogue.😕
