I'm now watching the Blu-ray version of Alfredo Leone's BLACK SUNDAY (1960). This Italian release is available both as a single Blu-ray and in a two-disc set with a 4K UHD disc. I don't have the 4K format, so my comments pertain to the Blu-ray only. The BD is region B locked.
The image is very sharp and looks better to me than the older Arrow Films Blu-ray. The Arrow release had the international export version (THE MASK OF SATAN) and the AIP cut (BLACK SUNDAY). This new Italian transfer is LA MASCHERA DEL DEMONIO, the original Italian edit.
Despite some speculation to the contrary, this Italian Blu-ray does have an English language audio track. I don't think it is the AIP English track, so it must be the international export audio track. There are no English subtitles, but both English and Italian audio tracks are present along with removable Italian subtitles.
Apparently, there are no current plans to release this new restoration in the US or the UK. I do hope that will occur someday, because I'd like to have English subtitles as well as the other options. This disc (at least the Blu-ray) doesn't have any other alternate versions of the film. The only extras are an Italian theatrical trailer and a deleted scene that wasn't included in the release version.
