Only a month after the release of THE PHANTOM PLANET (1961), Dean Fredericks and Dolores Faith co-starred again in this modest exploitation film about female migrant workers being abused in the San Joaquin Valley (although actually filmed in Florida). The cast also includes Susan Kelly (Playboy's Miss May of 1961) and Kathleen Freeman from THE JOEY BISHOP SHOW. The film isn't quite good enough to be taken as serious drama but never stoops to the campy excesses of UNTAMED YOUTH (1957), another film about rural female workers.
The non-charismatic Dean Fredericks is a one-note sadist in this drama, willing to abuse both men and women. The women finally revolt against him, ending the film on a note of implied castration. This was a release from Sutton Pictures, a company that distributed such low-budget crime films as NIGHT OF EVIL (1962) and RUN ACROSS THE RIVER (1961).
