In the last ten years, the Adams Family have become the go-to team for independent movies. The emphasis is on how horror in everyday life becomes normalised (unemployment, addiction, mental illness) and how families cope with this as the supernatural that invades their lives becomes equally normalised. There's a kind of heroism about that.
