Some long-running franchises I'm still down with - not that I love every entry, but still finding value:
HALLOWEEN - yep, I'll still be there on opening day, but the new proposed TV series may be my downfall
BOND - We had a brief break-up for a couple of Pierce Brosnan movies, but going strong ever since
GODZILLA - Toho's back on track with GODZILLA MINUS ONE; I will go see the American Legendary ones, but they've mostly been a bust
FINAL DESTINATION - these have been fairly sporadic the last few years, but chalk me down for the next one, the heir-apparent to the '80s "goofy body count" flick
CONJURINGs - Yeah, including the ANNABELLEs and NUNs, etc.
FRIDAY THE 13TH and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREETs seem to be on long-term hiatus after lousy reboots, but whenever they re-emerge, I will be at the theater.
TERMINATORs - I've been interested enough to at least see all of them, not all in the theater.
EVIL DEADs - The reboot was awful, but swift recovery with ASH VS. EVIL DEAD, and EVIL DEAD RISE was watchable enough that I'm still on board
Given up:
STAR WARS - this shocks most people, I haven't seen one since RETURN OF THE JEDI. I don't object, just not interested
ALIEN - these still keep coming out, I saw one (3?) back in the '90s and was kinda done.
STAR TREK - I puttered along for a while with the Next Generation movies, and the reboots were OK, but have come to the conclusion it's basically just the OG crew for me. I can't even count/ comprehend all the streaming shows that are out there.
SCREAM - The original was fun, a bit overrated, for some reason I kept seeing them but not liking them, attendance got iffy at 4, then these latest handful, I saw one and think I'm finally done.
INDIANA JONES, GHOSTBUSTERS - see STAR WARS, we last met in the '80s.
Others I'm just noncommittal, in the middle, or never bought into in the first place (SAWs, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, the DC superhero movies) - I think the once-great MCU is still salvageable, but I haven't partaken of any of the streaming shows and skipped a couple of the latest theatrical releases. Some franchises are doing just fine shooting themselves in the foot without my help ("Dark Universe" haha).
How's everyone else doing on franchise fatigue?
