This was an interesting little book from 1951. There doesn't seem to be much information available about Juba Kennerley, but he seems to a British writer fascinated with animism.. that is, people turning into animals, whether literally or just in their minds. Werwolves are the best known examples, but just about every culture through history has tales of people becoming foxes, bears, tigers, moose, you name it. Then there are secret cults such as West Africa's Leopard Society. Kennerley seems to have traveled widely to research this book, and (assuming you take his claims at face value) has turned up some hair-raising incidents that make one inclined to make sure the door is locked. The book is illustrated with drawings rather than photos, which gives it quite an old-fashioned air.
