Folks, shared enthusiasms are great -- I'm a huge comic book fan, too -- but the Classic Horror Film Board needs to be fundamentally about horror, science fiction and fantasy. In comic book discussions, too.
Discussions of comic book movies are fine, great, hard to ignore because for many, they have become, for good or bad, what modern movies have become.
But discussions of all our favorite super heroes in comic books-- how Green Lantern's ring works, Flash's daughter has a new Speed Force power, inconsistencies in Mort Weisinger's Superman universe of the 1960s, and the like -- is taking the CHFB too far afield.
We recognize the enthusiasm some members have (me too), but we've also had complaints as the "Discussion" tab is overwhelmed with comic book super hero postings each morning. Few have anything to do with horror or suspense.
Administrator Gary has renamed this Forum to Horror Comics and Fantasy Art, to narrow the focus. I've also removed a few threads to help make the point that the CHFB should not become all super hero comics all the time. Look for the horror, even fun such as Frankenstein in Archie or......
This does NOT mean that traditional super hero comics cannot be discussed. They can. But in moderation please.
Every single super hero post, whether the Atom or Sub-Mariner, have been fine on their own. But the sheer number of super hero discussions obscures the board's main purpose.
So sci-fi, fantasy and horror comics discussions are great; so is the history of comics (the paperwork behind Spider-Man #1), the writers and artists of comics, the recent Marvel/Ditko settlement, and yes, Swamp Thing, a new Dr. Strange, and the rest.
But we are ASKING that debating Thor vs Hulk, and the rest of comic book rich super hero history, be ratcheted back. For the good of the board as a whole.
And we are happy to hear opinions pro or con.
Excelsior! Nuff said! You must have X-ray vision, we have just such a Supergirl story in the works...
